Steering System
This boat is equipped with a hydraulic steering system
that is associated with the engine package option
selected.
The erado four stroke engine option uses an enclosed
hydraulic pump unit. The pump is electrically operated to
provide hydraulic pressure to the steering system. The
pump is located in the aft starboard side of the bilge and
can be accessed by lifting the equipment hatch in the aft
cockpit deck.
F ollow the manufacturer’ s maintenance
recommendations ex actly. Imp rop er maintenance
might cause loss of steering, which could cause
p rop erty damage or serious injury.
F illing & Maintenance
The system is virtually maintenance free, aside from
regular uid checks and visually inspecting the outside
of the unit for signs of leaks or damage.
Remove the pump cover by pulling up and out on the
locking tabs on the sides of the unit.
nscrew the cap and check the uid level in the
reservoir, or Mercury erado engines, fill NLY with
Mercury Marine SAE W ull Synthetic Power
Steering luid (consult the operator’s manual for uid
specifications if your vessel is not equipped with the
erado engine package).
Replace cap and cover
Ensure that cover is p rop erly seated to p revent
intrusion of water into the p ump enclosure.
