Maintenance
P roper maintenance of this system will ensure worry-free usage for the life of this vessel.
S teering system integrity is imperative. S peci al ca re and attention must be take n to ensure
proper performance of the steering system and should incl ude the following:
After the first few hours of operation and at regular intervals, check all fasteners and the
co mplete steering system for secu rity and integrity.
Inspect for co rrosion. Any part affect ed by co rrosion must be replace d.
When replaci ng parts, self locki ng hardware must be used.
Check the uid level in the helm pump unit.
L ubrica te slides on the engine cyl inders.
All steering systems, whether mech anica l or hydraulic, req uire regular inspect ions, periodic
ad ustment and occasional replacement which should only be conducted by a qualified marine
tech nici an.
