Battery Maintenance
P eriodic battery maintenance is important to ensure
that this boat will be ready for operation when needed.
B attery maintenance should incl ude:
Inspect the batteries and ch arging systems before
each mission for loose or co rroded co nnect ions and
damaged wiring.
Check and maintain the elect rolyte level in all wet-ce ll
batteries. Add distilled water only, as nece ssary.
Coat the battery terminals and ca ble c onnect ions with
heavy grease to reduce co rrosion.
K eep the batteries dry and cl ean.
Battery Charger
All four house/ starting batteries are ch arged when any
one or all outboard engines are running above idle speed,
regardless of battery OF F -ON switch position.
All four batteries are ch arged when the boat is co nnect ed
to shore power and the AC battery ch arger is act ivated,
regardless of battery OF F -ON switch position.
A battery ch arger loca ted on the forward bulkh ead of
the battery co mpartment faci litates the ch arging of these
batteries when using shore power or the generator.
The battery ch arger automatica lly incr eases cu rrent
output when there is a drop in battery voltage. When the
batteries are ch arged, the unit maintains a small cu rrent
ow to keep the batteries fully charged and ready for
service without overch arging.
