CCM and CPS appliance CLI port
The CCM appliance has a dedicated CLI port named CON. For CPS appliances, you may specify
any port to be the CLI port.
To change the CLI port settings for a CCM or CPS appliance:
1.
In a Units View window containing appliances (see
Accessing Units View windows
on
page 88), click on the CCM or CPS appliance name.
2.
Click
Appliance Settings
in the side navigation bar and then click
Ports
. The Appliance Serial
Ports window will open.
3.
Click
CLI
in the side navigation bar.
Settings
will automatically be selected in the side
navigation bar and the Appliance CLI Port Settings window will open.
4.
Change the settings as needed.
•
(CPS appliances only) Specify the appliance port to use for CLI connections to a serial
device. If you do not want to assign a CLI port, choose
Unassigned
. Only one port may be
defined as a CLI port. If a second port is defined as a CLI port, the previously defined CLI
port will be changed to a standard port. For example, if Port 1 was defined as a CLI port
and you now define Port 2 as a CLI port, Port 1 will become a standard port and Port 2
will be the CLI port.
•
Terminal type to use for a CLI connection.
•
Modem initialization string that will be used by the appliance for dial-in serial CLI access
to an attached serial device. The default value is ATE0V1 SO=1.
To access a serial device using a modem connection, you must also specify PPP settings,
as described in the following procedure.
•
Click
Allow Connect Command on Serial CLI
to enable users to connect to another port on
the appliance from the CLI/console port using the Connect command.
•
CLI access character that will be used to access CLI mode on a serial device. The (^)
character represents the
Ctrl
key. For example, specifying ^D means that pressing
Ctrl+D
will enter CLI mode.
•
Click
Disable Local Port Login
if you do not want to require local users to log in to the
local port. Local users will be recognized in the DSView 3 software as having their
preemption level set there. If this option is not selected, the local user must log in to the
local port and will have a preemption level assigned to them from the DSView 3 software
or from the logged in local account.
•
Specify a preemption level for the appliance (1-4).
•
The Long Name Display Mode is used in CLI displays when serial port or power device
socket names containing more than 32 characters are truncated. Select the radio button to
specify whether the CLI will display the first 32 characters or the last 32 characters.
