washer or dryer to accept multiple payment
systems over the life of the product. This elimi-
nates the need to purchase different SKUs
based on money acceptance requirements.

acceptors, as well as Palm

and SMART Card
accountability systems at the same time. All
ADVANTECH

models come equipped with an
auxiliary communications port for connecting
SMART Cards, Ethernet boxes, Internet con-
trols, or additional devices. ADVANTECH

does
not require that purchasers be tied to an appli-
ance manufacturer’s proprietary card reader.
The ADVANTECH

open-architecture design
allows the use of a card system that best meets
the current business requirements to be in-
stalled into the product.

dry Products allow the use of a Palm

handheld
device, also referred to as a “Personal Digital
Assistant” (PDA), for washer and dryer instal-
lation and setup. This includes setting special
vend-prices, washer and dryer software up-
grades, and transferring data to and from a
personal computer (PC). Information is set up
on a PC using ADVANTECH

Management
Software, which is then used to download
ADVANTECH

Handheld Software to the
Palm

. The Palm

uses an infrared light beam
to communicate information contained in the
Management Software to the washer and dryer.

SYSTEM OVERVIEW
Before downloading the Handheld Software to
the Palm

, Management Software must be
installed and running on the PC. Passwords,
machine setup, and Handheld Software are
available within the Management Software.

Commands for the Management Software in-
stalled on the PC are entered by using the
keyboard or mouse. Commands for the
Handheld Software are entered into the Palm

by tapping the appropriate menu on its screen,
using a stylus that is provided with the handheld
device. Occasionally you may be asked to
enter text into the Palm

using the Graffiti

text
characters, or the Palm

keyboard. Additional
