6. Using two 0.9mm feeler gauges, set the gap between the feeder band and
the separator plate so that it is a good sliding fit and even on each side.
7. Re-tighten the nuts, taking care that after final tightening the position is
still correct.
8. The machine can now be reassembled and tested.
3.5.9 Replace Vacuum Air Filters
To prevent the suction valves becoming clogged with offset powder and paper
dust, a small filter is placed between the feeder head and the suction valve.
These filters must be checked and replaced regularly as part of the DigiVAC's
routine maintenance.
Procedure
1. Disconnect the DigiVAC from the mains power supply.
2. Remove the R/H side cover(s) from the bin module(s) requiring service.
3. Hold the valve steady with one hand whilst turning the elbow pipe down-
wards. The valve and pipe will detach from one another.
4. Pull the complete vacuum supply pipe assembly out through the machine
side frame.
5. Separate the two halves of the filter housing by holding the outer half
whilst twisting and pulling the inner half with the elbow attached.
6. Clean or replace the filter pad. Make sure that the plastic filter disc is in
place inside the inner half of the housing, and insert the filter pad with the
blue coloured side facing towards the valve.

7. Re-assemble the filter housing assembly, and replace it in to the machine.
Make sure that the vacuum tube is located securely into the feeder head.
8. Re-connect the valve to the filter assembly.
9. Replace the side cover(s) and test machine performance.
3.5.10 Cleaning/Replacing Vacuum Valve
If miss feeds are occurring, the feeder vacuum valves may need cleaning or
replacing. Cleaning of the vacuum valves should be considered as part of
annual routine maintenance, as a build up of offset powder around the dia-
phragm will seriously reduce valve performance.
