Watkiss DigiVAC Service Manual - Issue 2 - 29/11/04
25
Procedure
1. Remove the feeder clutch shaft assembly from the DigiVAC and then re-
move the feeder clutch (see Section 3.5.3).
2. Remove the pulley and then clean and examine the shaft for wear.
3. Lightly oil the pulley bearing with a light oil.
3.5.5 Replacing Bin Emitter/Sensor
The bin emitter/sensor is located between the paper separator plate and the rear
drive wheel in each bin. If the emitter/sensor is damaged or faulty, the feed
error and detection system will not work on that bin, making it unusable.
Indication of a faulty emitter/sensor is:
• a long beep and both red and yellow error indication LEDs illuminated
after a Test Set.
•

measurements recorded (in the

window) for the faulty bin.
Procedure
1. Disconnect the DigiVAC from the mains power supply.
2. Remove the L/H side cover from the bin module with the faulty emit-
ter/sensor.
3. Open the rear conveyor door, and remove the rear conveyor assembly.
4. Remove the deflector plate from the appropriate bin and the two bins
below.
5. Remove the appropriate conveyor shaft by pushing it to the left against the
spring pressure and lifting the R/H end clear. Repeat on the bin directly
below.
6. Disconnect the emitter/sensor cable from the 900-174 bin control PCB,
and cut the cable tie securing it to the hexagonal stand-off post.
7. Cut and remove the four cable ties securing the emitter and sensor cables
to the separator bracket (3 on the bottom, 1 on the top).

Note:
The above procedure has been described in its simplest form. You may
prefer to remove more parts than outlined, to gain greater access to the emit-
ter and sensor housings.
The emitter housing position is adjustable, and is set in the factory. If you
need to remove the emitter housing for any reason, be sure to mark its posi-
tion before you loosen the retaining screws. This is so that on re-assembly,
the emitter housing can be re-set to its correct position.
