3. Click on the ‘TFTP Root Directory’ tag in the TFTP Server Configuration
menu. Set the path to the folder where the DigiVAC Software is stored (see
Figure 4:21). Click on the ‘OK’ button.

4. Click on the ‘Security’ tag in the TFTP Server Configuration menu. Make
sure that the ‘Transmit and receive files’ button is selected (see Figure
4:22). Click on the ‘OK’ button.

4.4.4.3 Finding the IP Address
You need to know the IP address and Subnet Mask of the computer from
where you are downloading the application software. The TFTP Server shows
this IP address in the bottom-right corner of the configuration window (see
Figure 4:20). The Subnet Mask will normally be set to 255.255.255.0.
Alternatively, if your computer uses Windows, you can find the IP address in
the following ways:
• Windows 95: open the MS-DOS prompt, type in
winipcfg
and press
return. A dialogue box will appear, which contains the computer’s IP
address
• Windows 98/2000: open the MS-DOS prompt, type in
ipconfig
and
press return. The IP address will be displayed in the DOS window
Make a note of the IP address before following the procedure in Section
4.4.4.4. The Subnet Mask will also be displayed if you run winipcfg or ipcon-
fig, so you can check that it is correct.

IP Address
: Every computer has
an IP address; it is a unique iden-
tification number, which can be
thought of as the machine’s tele-
phone number. Identifying the
IP address for the computer and
the DigiVAC enable them to
‘talk’ to each other.
Glossary
Subnet Mask
: If the IP Address
can be thought of as a
computer’s telephone number,
then the Subnet Mask can be
thought of as the area code.
The Subnet Mask allows a com-
puter to examine an IP Address,
and see if it has the same ‘area
code’. If one computer is to
communicate with another, then
their IP addresses must have the
same ‘area code’, i.e. the IP
Addresses must fit the Subnet
Mask.
