5.25 Standard Altimetry Calls
When altimeters are set, both pilots must repeat the number that they are settingand cross check
the altimeters. The Captains altimeter shall be considered asthe master during instrument checks
unless proven to be outside tolerances.
The following system of cross checking altimeters during flight is mandatory.
Once an altimeter setting is received, the PM shall initiate the call out.
For eg.
“altimeter 1012, 4500 feet”
to which the PF shall respond
“1012, 4500 feetchecked.”
NOTE
The PMshall set the standby altimeter.

Rate of Descent
Rateof descent should normally be scheduled to be 500 ft/min. Up to 700 ft/min isacceptable on
a normal descent.
On an instrument approach, a descent of up to900 ft/min is acceptable, but only when required.
e.g On a 3.5Deg Glide Slope.
