3.4 Division of Workload
Any particular item in the cockpit shall generally be operated by the same crew
member throughout the flight as laid out in the division of workload diagrams.
Exceptions to this are:
3.4.1 Taxi
During taxi, the throttle control levers are always the responsibility of the Captain.
3.4.2 Take-Off & Climb
During take-off,
TCL
areto be operated by the PF up to 85% Ng.
At 85% Ng both pilots must confirm that the engine parameters are stable before
the PM sets takeoff power.
After climb power is set,
TCL
and
prop. levers
areto be operated by PF.
The
AFCS
mode selector panel is to be controlled by the PF when the autopilot
is engaged and by the PM when the Autopilot is disengaged.
During take-off, the throttle control levers are the responsibility of the captain,
regardless of who is the PF. The captain must keep his hands on top of the throttle
control levers until V1. This is to initiate the actions for an aborted take-off if it is
required. If the captain is the PM, he must also set power for take-off as requested
by the F/O. If the captain is the PF, he must request power for take-off, and the
F/O must set power using the bottom part of the throttle control levers. Once
power is set, the F/O must remove his hands from the throttle control levers, unless
an adjustment must be made.
Care must be taken when setting the required torque. All engine instruments must
be monitored while and after setting desired power. Torque may “creep” to a
higher setting, resulting in an engine parameter exceedance.
