Description
Use this toggle control to turn on/off SCSI polling. SCSI polling is a
system service that monitors for the removal of active volumes to
protect the file system from potential corruption. If a drive is removed,
the system will automatically unmount that volume. Additionally, the
system will detect if a drive has been inserted and will automatically
mount that drive, provided that the device ID is already recognized.
SCSI polling
Fast
–
This deletion method removes the file pointer information from
system’s File Allocation Table (FAT) but does not remove the physical
data from the disk drive. The physical space the deleted file occupies
on the hard drives may be overwritten in subsequent write operations.
If this hard drive space has not been reused, then it’s possible to
recover the deleted file using the
Recover
command.
Delete Method
Secure
– This deletion method permanently removes the file from the
system’s File Allocation Table and performs a destructive write over the
hard drive area occupied by the deleted file. Once a file has been
deleted using this
Secure
method, the file is unrecoverable.
Disk space warning level
This user definable value is used to instruct the system to issue a low
disk space warning if the amount of available storage is less than the
set value. If the user creates a Virtual Tape (VTP) and the amount of
available storage space is less than the defined threshold, the system
will issue a warning.
Once a low-space warning message has been displayed you will be
given the option to either continue or cancel the operation.
