Crane operation
198
Put crane in a position suitable for securing the person and shut it down
x
Place the crane in a position where the fall arrester is at a distance of 5m minimum from the
person to be protected and if possible vertically above.
x
Secure the crane against unintended motions:
x
Set the key switch on the remote control console to OFF.
Note!
Do not actuate the emergency cut-off button on the crane.
Securing a person
x
Put on the safety harness properly.
x
Attach the person to be secured with the safety harness to the fall arrester.
Following the movements of the secured person
On principle, the crane must be shut down and even secured against unintended motions while a
person is being secured. If the area of activity of the person to be secured changes during work, it is
allowed to follow the person’s movements. To do so proceed as follows:
x
Set the key switch to ON.
Caution!
When following the person with the crane keep the minimum distance
between fall arrester and the person to be protected, otherwise there
is danger of crushing.
Generally, move the crane with extreme care and at lowest possible
speed while following the person.
Never move the crane in areas where there is danger for the person to
be secured.
x
Put the crane in the required position. Due to the activated personal fall protection mode the crane
speed is reduced.
Note!
x
If you move the crane into a blocked area with active
personal fall protection mode, all movements will stop
and the following message appears:
x
Areas, where the required capacity of 600 kg is not
available due to stability, must never be approached in
personal fall protection mode. (Observe the Pal-chart).
