Chapter 6 Ancillary equipment

Unfolding the crane into working position:
Caution!
If the rope is not reeved in all of the provided deflection pulleys and
intermediate pulleys, it may rub against parts and hence get damaged
or even break. This may lead to severe injury.
x
Make sure the rope is properly reeved over all provided deflection pulleys and intermediate
pulleys.
x
The rope must be reeved and secured in the rope securing pin.
Warning!
If RTC is not switched on with reeved rope before unfolding the crane,
the intermediate pulleys and deflection pulleys will get damaged
and/or the rope torn. There is danger of injury for the operator and
others.
Caution!
With active RTC the rope winch tensions the rope automatically when
a lever is being deflected (exception - ‘Slewing’). Do not reach into the
rope's range!
There is an acute risk of crushing and therefore a risk of injury!
x
Switch RTC on.
x
Unfold the load arm into working position (see ‘Unfolding the boom’ in chapter 7).
x
Move the Power Link rope winch (if available) in working position (for procedure and operation see
‘Rope winch’, chapter 6).
Caution!
Check after every folding/unfolding procedure:
That there is still rope in all deflection pulleys! Otherwise this may
considerably damage the rope and the load may fall down. In such a
case there is severe risk of injury or even fatal injury!
x
Extend extension booms, if necessary. For the extensions choose a speed where RTC always
winds the rope under tension.
x
Deactivate RTC
and slacken the rope slightly (‘lower rope winch’).
x
Unreeve the rope from the rope securing pin and reeve it in the pulley head.
Crane is ready for rope winch operation.
