Hook and shackle
Hook and shackle inspections done by a PALFINGER partner have to comply with national regulations
and be carried out in intervals of 12 months maximum.
Danger!
If hooks are used that have not been sufficiently maintained or are
damaged or worn, there is an acute risk of accidents and therefore
risk of fatal injury to the operators and others.
Clean hook and shackle before inspection so that they are free of any oil, dirt and rust. All cleaning
methods that do not affect the basic material are allowed.
The following points must be checked at regular intervals for:

Deformations, decrease of diameter, elongation, cuts, notches, cracks, heavy corrosion,
discoloration by heat or other effects.

Castle nut locking feature;
2.
Hook bearing.
3.
Safety latch
- must close automatically under spring pressure;
- must never unlatch.
4.
Hook mouth - discard the hook when the hook mouth (O)
has widened by more than 10% of its nominal width.
5.
Material wear - at the weakest point (H) not more than
10% of the material's nominal dimension must be worn
off.
6.
Hook block (if being used).
Note!

In the event of hook damage, deformation or wear, take the hook out of service immediately.
