V440-F C-Mount Code Reader User Manual
Time Impact of Advanced Features
• 2D Damaged Mode
can be used in all applications, not much extra decode time is expected
where the damaged is not required.
• 2D Curved Mode
should only be used on small-diameter curves. On large-diameter curves, the
additional function of the algorithm is not used and the pre-selection will add extra time.
• AP Mode
has the biggest impact on Data Matrix symbols with multiple data regions. it improves
the decode time required and improves consistency. Little extra decode time is expected where
the AP Mode is not required.
• EB Mode
is for applications that require a window of interest that fits tightly around the symbol.
No Reads caused by the edge of the symbol being close the edge of the image are reduced.
The modes listed above can be combined. Enabling them all will lead to longer decode times. In
general, a combination of 2D Damaged Mode and AP Mode will not make the decode time notice-
ably longer, and tt will make decode times shorter and more consistent in the applications for
which it is intended.
Combining Advanced Decoding Parameters
Some Advanced Decoding Parameters can be combined and others cannot, as follows:
• Curved 2D
and
Convert Shift-JIS to UTF-8
can be combined with each other, and both will be
activated.
• Scale Up
,
Scale Down
,
Attempt Morphology Manipulation
, and
2D Damaged Mode
can be
combined with each other.
• Fast Linear Mode Horizontal
and
Fast Linear Mode Vertical
cannot be combined with other
Advanced Decoding Parameters
commands.
• 1D Quiet Zone Violation
cannot be combined with other Advanced Decoding Parameters com-
mands.
