Caution:
Since the total number of characters available for the master symbol database is
3000

changes to the
Master Symbol Database Size
will re-allocate the number of characters available for
each master symbol and could cause existing master symbols to be deleted (except master symbol #1,
unless it also exceeds the size limitation).
The table below specifies the maximum number of characters available to each symbol according the
number of master symbols defined, from 1 to 30.

M-5-2 Enter Master Symbol Data
Usage:
Allows you to enter master symbol data for any enabled master symbol index
number (1 to 10), provided the total number of characters does not exceed
the maximum allowed.

Enter data for 1 to 10 symbols (any combination of ASCII text up to the max-
imum allowed.
For example, to enter data for master symbol 9, after making certain that
master symbol database size is enabled for 9 or more symbols, send

Important:
The ASCII characters

can only be entered as hex val-
ues.
Caution:
If no data is entered, the existing data will be deleted.
M-5-3 Request Master Symbol Data
Definition:
Returns master symbol data for any enabled master symbols from 1 to 10.
For example, to request master symbol # 5, enter

. The reader
transmits master symbol # 5 data in brackets in the following format:

.
If no master symbol data is available, the output will be:

.

Caution:
Be sure to add the

This command returns the number of master symbols if no number is
included.
