4-10 Configuration Database
When setting up a read cycle, you can specify the number of symbols that must be found and decoded
for each trigger.
There may be instances in which not all the symbols can be read within a single image or with one set of
decode parameters. This is the purpose of the
Configuration Database
. With the Configuration
Database, upon receiving a trigger, the system cycles though multiple sets of imaging, image
enhancement, and decode parameters stored in the database until it reads the required number of codes.
Example
: A manufacturing line where the single code to be read may be either very bright or very dark,
but where there is no single exposure setting that can read both. To solve this, the user can set up the
Configuration Database with two entries to take two images with two different exposures. When the
system is triggered, it will take the first image with the exposure in Configuration Database entry
1
. If
the symbol is not read, the system automatically takes a second image with the exposure in
Configuration Database entry
2
and tries the decode again. In this way, it is guaranteed that the system
will be able to read both the very bright and very dark instances of the symbol.
The Configuration Database has 20 slots allowing for up to 20 decode attempts. The following
parameters can be set uniquely for each entry. These settings are related to either Image Acquisition,
or to the Decode tool.
Image Settings
– Applies to all decode tools within an image.
•
Exposure Time
•
Gain
•
Pixel Binning – Acquires image at half size by sub-sampling every other pixel.
Decode Tool Settings
– Applies to the specific decode tool for that particular database entry.
