152    Configuring Numbering Plans in the Norstar VoIP Gateway

P0606298 02

This takes advantage of the priority search rule. Any 4 digit number will match the first row and
use the indicated Private NPI/TON. Numbers that are longer than 4 digits will not match the first
row. Seven digit numbers that begin with 393, 394, 395 or 396 match the second row. Everything
else matches the last row.

Numbering plan information is also used in programming of the Source Phone Number
Manipulation Table for Tel -> IP Calls
and in H.323 Protocol Definition for Source Number
Encoding Type
and Destination Number Encoding Type. These latter two parameters allow you
to use the H323-ID for source and destination encoding.

When you are using the Nortel Networks CSE1000 gatekeeper, you do not need to use the
Registration Prefixes table. The CSE1000 gatekeeper is manually configured for dialing plan and
uses the H323-ID to identify the endpoints. Dialing plan information in this gateway is used to
translate received digits independently of their NPI/TON classification.
