Upgrading the VoIP Gateway
To upgrade the VoIP Gateway, use the Software Upgrade feature to load new software or
configuration files onto the VoIP Gateway. The Software Upgrade feature is available through the
web interface.
Table 20
shows the type of file you can load using the Software Upgrade feature and describes
what the file contains.

File Type
Description
*.cmp
The .cmp file contains the software for the VoIP Gateway.
You load this type of file on to the VoIP Gateway, when you are changing
the version of VoIP Gateway software.
*.ini
The .ini file contains the parameters that can be set when programming the
VoIP Gateway.
You load this type of file to change the programming parameters.
Note: The INI file only provisions the parameters that are contained in the
INI file. If a parameter is not specified in the INI file, values associated with
that parameter are reset to a default value. These values may not be the
same as the values that were configured for the VoIP Gateway at the time
of manufacture.
MP104_Coeff_FXS.dat
The Coefficient data file contains the telephony interface configuration
information for the VoIP Gateway. This information includes telephony
interface characteristics, such as DC and AC impedance, feeding current
and ringing voltage.
This file is specific to the type of telephony interface that the VoIP Gateway
supports. In most cases you do have to load this type of file.
Voice Prompts
The Voice Prompts file is not used on this version of the VoIP Gateway.
Norstar_Voip_GW_NA_Tones.
dat
The Tones data file contains the call progress tone levels and frequencies
that the VoIP Gateway uses. Four common call progress tones are Dial
Tone, Busy Tone, Ringback Tone and Reorder Tone.
In most cases you do not need to load this type of file.
