Norstar VoIP Gateway Configuration Guide
Setting up the dialing plan
The most important planning consideration for any Norstar VoIP Gateway network is the dialing
plan. In this example, the Norstar systems on the network:
• use a Universal Dialing Plan (UDP) scheme
• have Toll bypass for Ottawa from the Head Office and for Calgary from Branch 2
• have automated dialing into auto answer trunks
Table 19 shows the dialing plan used for this network.
Setting up the Norstar
1 Determine the number of trunks that you will be using for IP calls.

Attach the trunks to the VoIP Gateway.
To minimize glare, attach the highest trunk number to highest channel number on the VoIP
Gateway.
3 Setup dialing plan for the Norstar systems according to Table 19 .
4 Configure the line pools, routes, destinations codes, location codes, and access codes on the
Norstar systems.
Note that ALL numbers beginning with the private access code (6) will end up routing to the
VoIP Gateway. This includes the dialing of PSTN numbers if proceeded by 6!
