On the remote VoIP Gateway, program the “RAD Line” in a separate Hunt Group and to route
calls to that RAD number to the RAD Hunt Group.

On the Quick Setup screen, set the Enable AnnexD/T.38 Fax Relay parameter to No while
using RAD.
This is recommended because the VoIP Gateway does not distinguish between FAX and
Modem tones right away. The initial packets will be sent as fax relay packets.
Setting up the VoIP Gateway for T.38 Fax Relay
In this example, the following is assumed:
•
Calls from the PSTN come in on a dedicated Fax line.
•
Norstar is configured to:
— Auto answer the Fax line
— Route the Fax line call to an analog trunk used to connected to the VoIP Gateway (IP
trunk)
— Add digits to dial Fax machine
•
The Fax machine is connected to a channel on the VoIP Gateway.
•
Incoming Fax Line PSTN calls get routed to the Fax.
•
Incoming IP calls are routed to the Fax based on the dialed digits.
•
Outgoing calls from the Fax are routed according to dialed digits.

On the Quick Setup screen, set the Enable AnnexD/T.38 Fax Relay parameter to Yes.

On the Channel Settings screen set the FAX Transport Mode parameter to T38 Relay.
