Dedicated lines settings
If the lines connected to the VoIP Gateway are dedicated to specific users, configure the following
settings on the VoIP Gateway.
• On the Channels - Hunt Group screen, enter the phone that is required to reach the person that
the line is assigned to. If one person has two lines dedicated for his or her use, then both lines
should have the same phone number. Enter each channel specifically, do not use ranges to
specify more than one channel (for example, do enter 1-4 in the Channel(s) box).
Use a common phone number that can be reached by anyone. If all calls over the VoIP
Gateway are strictly from the private network, then the number can be the private network
number for the person (for example, 758-1234). If calls over the VoIP Gateway have the
potential to use the PSTN, then the number should be the PSTN number for that person's set.
• On the Channels - Hunt Group screen, enter a unique Hunt Group ID for each channel. If a
person has more than one channel assigned to them, all of the channels assigned should have
the same Hunt Group ID.
Example:
In this example,
Channels 1 and 2 are assigned to Joe's set, channel 3 is assigned to
Christine's set, and channel 4 is assigned to Mary's set. The respective Norstar lines are lines
31 to 34. Calls made to the VoIP Gateway can go to private network or PSTN locations.
