4
Set the Gatekeeper Redundancy parameter to No.
This parameter is set to No because our example system has only one Gatekeeper. You can
have more than one gatekeeper if you require is for traffic or reliability reasons.
5
Set the Register as Terminal parameter to No.
The Gatekeeper will register as a gateway.
Configuring the Gatekeeper Registration of the dialing plan
On the Registration Prefixes Table, enter the phone numbers and types of numbers that are
supported on the VoIP Gateway. This information is used by the Gatekeeper to resolve address
requests by other gateways.
Set the Gateway Registration Type parameter on the H.323 Protocol Definition screen to either
Table Values or Table Values & H323-ID to enable the type of number classifications entered
into the Registration Prefixes Table.
Configuring the Business Communications Manager as an endpoint
1
Setup the Business Communication Manager VoIP trunk parameters:
a
Specify whether a Gatekeeper is used.
b
Specify the alias types to use for Gatekeeper registration.
2
If a Gatekeeper is not used, program the Remote Gateway values.
3
Configure the preferred codecs.
Make sure that the Business Communications Manager and the VoIP Gateway share at least
one codec (type and packetization).
Considerations with Business Communications Manager
Call Progress Tones and Fast start
Business Communications Manager will send call progress tones to the calling endpoint if fast
start is used. Configure the VoIP Gateway as follows:
•
On the H.323 Protocol Definition screen, set the Connection Mode parameter to Fast Start.
•
On the H.323 Protocol Definition screen, set the Play Ringback tone to IP parameter to Play.
•
On the H.323 Protocol Definition screen, set the Play Ringback tone to Tel parameter to
Don’t Play.
IP Telephones
If IP telephones are used on the Business Communications Manager, make sure that NAT settings
include IP Telephone so that the Gateway will be able to establish the voice path.
