Issuer
represents the details of the CA issuing the Certificate. Here, the Organization itself is the CA
(issuer), hence, the O, OU and CN of both Issuer and Subject is same.
•
Validity
represents the valid period of this certificate.
•
Subject
represents the credentials of the Server / User requesting for certification.
•
Public Key
represents the public key of the certificate.
Generating a System Certificate (Self-signed Certificate)
After creating a self-signed authority (CA), you can either,
•
generate a System Certificate for your clients. These System Certificates can then be given to the
respective Clients.

the Clients can prepare their own System Certificates. For this you need to send them the CA Certificate
created by you.

generate a Certificate Signing Request (CSR), if you want the Certificate to be signed by a third party.
If the Clients prepare their own Certificates, you need to send your CA Certificate to all the clients. The
Clients must upload the same in their system. Similarly, all the clients must their CA Certificates to you and
you must upload the same in your system. To avoid this, you can create the Certificates and provide it to
your Clients

To create the System Certificate,

Click the
Certificate Management
tab.

On the left navigation bar, click the
Generate Certificate
link.
