1.
Configure a Port Triggering rule in the system.
As illustrated in above diagram, a Gaming Application is running in the LAN network of NAVAN with LAN IP
Address: 192.168.2.2. The Gaming Server is located in public network (external IP Address: 8.8.8.8 and
Port 22).
2.
The Gaming Application sends packets to the Gaming Server (Port 22: Triggering Port in this example).
When the packets are sent (from LAN to WAN), the system checks for any Port Triggering rule configured
in the system.
If a rule is configured in the system, the system checks the external IP Address. If the external IP address
is configured as ‘Any’, the packets are forwarded from any public IP Address to the destination port (LAN).
If a ‘single’ external IP Address is configured, the packets will be forwarded from the defined external IP
Address (8.8.8.8) to the internal host running the Gaming Application, that is, to the defined source LAN IP
Address and Port from which the
triggering was activated
. The triggering port will be a different port (Port
6000) called as the destination port / forwarded port.
