Chapter 3 - Installing Instrument Boards
Overview
Instrument boards are installed in a GTXI using any of five GTXI-
designed carrier board models: the GTXI-702, GTXI7020, GT7021,
GT7720 and GT7730.
The GTXI-702, GT7020, and GT7021 carrier boards are for ISA
boards, and can be used in either the GTXI-700 or the GT7700.
The
GT7720 and GT7730 carrier boards are for PCI and CPCI-PXI
boards, and can be used only in the GT7700.
Since the GT7720 and GT7730 carrier boards are plug-and-play and
have no address switches, much of the configuration information in
this chapter does not apply to them.
The following steps are required to install PC instrument boards in
the GTXI:
1. For ISA boards, plan the input/output addresses and resources
that will be used.
2. Install the instrument boards on the carrier boards.
3. Optional steps: see “Installing PC Boards on the GTPC
GT7586 Controller Module” on page 96 and “Installing PC
Boards on the GT7700 System Controller Module” on page 97.
4. Set the address switches and jumpers on the carrier boards and
GTXI-701-PCT board as needed.
5. Insert the carrier boards into the GTXI platform.
6. For ISA based boards - Run the GTXICFG configuration
program to assign the addresses and resources. See
Chapter 4
“Assigning Resources.”
