Chapter 3 - Installing Instrument Boards
95
Setting ISA boards Base Address Configuration with
ATEasy
When instrument boards are used with
ATEasy
, the base address on
board drivers supplied by Geotest is usually given as the module
number in the Drivers-Setup dialog of the System Editor. The
address can be entered in hexadecimal format (as seen for the
counter below) or decimal
Figure 3-17:
ATEasy
Base Address Configuration
1. In the above example,
ATEasy
accepts GTXI offset addresses
for all of the instruments used.
ATEasy
accepts any 16-bit
address in this field from 0x0000 - 0xFFFF.
2. Do not use the addresses 0xn000 - 0xn0FF (n= 0-F). These are
used by most PC motherboards internally.
Inserting the ISA Carrier Board into the GTXI
After the instrument boards are placed on the appropriate carrier
boards and the I/O base addressing, offset addressing, DMA select,
memory map select, and any local bus connection and jumpers have
been made, it is time to place the PC board on the GTXI platform.
1. Insert the carrier boards into empty slots on the GTXI platform:
a) Insert the board in the slot’s top and bottom guides and
slide it until it is firmly seated in the platform slot.
