GTXI User's Guide
11. Insert the Carrier Card into the left-most slot in the GT7700
Expansion Chassis. Tighten the bulkhead screws of the Carrier
Board into the Chassis.
Powering up the system:
1. Check installation of all cables
2. Power up the GT7710 Expansion Chassis.
3. Power up the Host PC.
4. Set up GTXI Config. Utility to configure the ISA bus. Refer to
Chapter 4, "The GTXI-Config Utility".
The PCI Host Card requires no setup. The operating system will
configure all of the instruments on the PCI bus.
The ISA bus of the GT7710 Expansion Chassis can be shut down
and powered up at will without the need to reboot the host PC.
The PCI bus of the GT7710 Expansion Chassis must be
reconfigured every time power is cycled. Rebooting or resetting the
host PC reconfigures it.
Setting Up with Multiple GTXI Platforms
If you need to use more instrument boards than will fit into a single
GTXI platform, you can expand the GTXI system by connecting
additional GTXI platforms to accommodate additional instrument
boards.
With a GT7700
When the GTXI-700 is used as a bus extender system connected to
a GT7700, a GTXI-701-PCT transmitter board must be placed in
one slot of the embedded controller on the GT7700. On the GTXI-
700 platform, place a GTXI-701-PCR receiver board in the far right
slot (slot 13). Using cabling, connect the transmitter board in the
GT7700 to the receiver board on the GTXI-700 platform.
