Connections for ASAB
There are two configurations for connecting the ASAB to the MAC III
controller. One is for Frequency Modulation (FM) EFM and KFM. The
other is for Piezoresponse Force Microscopy (PFM) experiments.
For applying EFM and KFM FM modes, Lock-in 1 is used for the Z
servo, Lock-in 2 is drives the tip or sample bias, and Lock-in 3 can be
used to monitor second or third harmonics for the Lock-in 2 frequency.

Lock-in 3
Input
This is the auxiliary input of Lock-in Amplifier 3. The nominal input range is 2.5 V
peak to peak AC within the range of ±10 V DC. To use this input to Lock-in 3, open
the Advanced AC Mode Controls window, select the Lock-in 3 tab, then select
Aux
from the Input dropdown menu.
This can also be used as an external input to the controller. While this is in use it
disables the normal outputs of the Lock-in. To use this as an external input to the
controller, select the Lock-in 3 tab in the Advanced AC Mode Controls window and
select the
Y Component From Aux
check box to enable the Auxiliary signal to
replace the Y component. Then in the Output tab, select
Y Component 3
as an output
to one on the controller auxiliary inputs.
