Removing and Installing the 3.5-inch Hard Disk Drive Bay Module
Removing the 3.5-inch Hard Disk Drive Bay Module
To remove the 3.5-inch hard disk (HDD) drive bay module, follow these steps:
1. Review the safety and ESD information at the beginning of this manual and in the
appendices.
2. To avoid data corruption, ensure that drives in the HDD bay module are not online
and actively providing data storage to any of the installed compute modules.
3. Power down all installed compute modules.
4. Power down the Intel
®
Modular Server System MFSYS25/MFSYS35 by unplugging
power cords to all installed power supplies.
5. Remove the I/O Cooling Module.
For instructions, see “Removing the I/O Cooling Module” on page 38 .
6. Remove all installed hard drives and hard drive filler panels.
For instructions, see “Removing a 3.5-inch Hard Drive from the Storage Bay” on
page 49 .
7. Remove the eight screws holding the HDD Bay Module bezel in place (see letter “A”
in Figure 43 ) and remove the bezel (see letter “B” in Figure 43 ).
8. Gently slide the HDD bay module out of the chassis (see letter “C” in Figure 43 ).
There will be some initial resistance as the bay is unseated from the midplane
connectors.
