8. USAGE NOTES
8-3
Usage
In a hot place, make sure that the ambient temperature is lowered to a sufficient
degree by an air conditioner before the Equipment is operated.
After powering off the Equipment, wait at least 20 seconds before powering on the
Equipment again. The Equipment may not start within less than 20 seconds.
Connect the power supplies to the peripherals before connecting the power supply to
the Equipment. Also, disconnect the power supply to the Equipment before
disconnecting any of the power supplies to the peripherals.
Powering on the Equipment may generate low-frequency sound. This sound is
caused by low-frequency vibrations from the harmonics choke coils during the
transition period, which has no adverse effect on the performance and life of the
Equipment.
Do not use the Equipment in an extremely hot or cold place or a place subject to rapid
temperature changes.
Do not use the Equipment in a place exposed to direct sunlight or any source of high
heat such as a stove.
Try not to use the Equipment in a dusty or humid place.
To wipe away dust from the surface of the Equipment, use a soft cloth moistened with
detergent and wipe lightly. Be noted that use of volatile substance (e.g., benzine,
thinner or alcohol) or other chemical substance may deform or discolor the
Equipment.
The Equipment includes high-precision electronic parts. Do not apply shock to the
Equipment, and do not use the Equipment in a place subject to shocks or vibrations.
Do not use the Equipment in a room filled with chemical fumes or in a place exposed
to chemicals.
When not using the Equipment, disconnect the power supply to the Equipment.
When not using the Equipment for a long period, disconnect the power cord plug
from the outlet.
Dust such as cotton dust is likely to adhere to the vents and areas around them. Clean
them periodically.
Corrosive gasses and a salt-laden atmosphere chemically corrode surfaces of the
Equipment, affecting the contact resistances of electronic parts and also reducing the
structural strengths of moving parts. This significantly reduces the reliability of the
Equipment. Install the Equipment in a place free from corrosive gases (particularly
sulfur dioxide, hydrogen sulfide, chlorine gases, and ammonia gases).
The clock displayed on the BIOS setup menu screen is used for the time setting rather
than used as ordinary clock. Hence, when the date changes, the date on the setup
menu screen remains unchanged. Change the date manually on the same screen.
The time-of-day clock may lag while the setup menu is being used. After closing the
setup menu, be sure to check the time.
Carpets and lap robes of some materials generate electrostatic, which may cause an
adverse effect on the Equipment. Use conductive carpets and lap robes that do not
easily generate static electricity.
