10. SOFTWARE RAID1
10-14
10.4.5 When a trouble occurs during recovery
(1) If read or write error occurred during rebuild
If unreadable area is detected during rebuild of the RAID1, an error message is displayed as
shown on the following screen. The rebuild process continues.
>>Start Rebuild
(Press `Ctrl+C' to abort) 01/31/2012 12:40:00
Read error on HDD#1.(error sector = 0xXXXXXXXX)
Read error on HDD#1.(error sector = 0xYYYYYYYY)
100%
>>End 01/31/2012 13:31:00
(Note) The screen above shows the case when read error occurred on the HDD mounted in the drive bay 1.
If unwritable area is detected during rebuild of the RAID1, an error message is displayed as
shown on the following screen.
>>Start Rebuild
(Press `Ctrl+C' to abort) 01/31/2012 12:40:00
20%
Write error on HDD#2.(error sector = 0xXXXXXXXX)
>>End 01/31/2012 13:31:00
(Note) The screen above shows the case when write error occurred on the HDD mounted in the drive bay 2.
(a) Corrective action when the copy source HDD has an error
If the copy source HDD has a read or write error, replace the failed HDD. (For
information about how to replace an HDD, see Subsection 5.4.3, “Detaching/attaching
hard disk drive (HDD)”.) After the HDD is replaced, follow the instruction described in
Subsection 10.2.2 “Setting up from scratch” to build software RAID1 from scratch.
Or, recover the Equipment using a backup HDD. (See Subsection 10.5.2, “Performing
restoration from backup HDD”.)
< NOTE >
The copy destination HDD can be used as an HDD for replacement later. But note that
the RAID1 configuration information has been already updated. When you rebuild
RAID1, you need to manually select HDDs to be rebuilt. (For details, see Subsection
10.6.4, “Rebuild function of RAID1”.)
