5. INSPECTION AND MAINTENANCE
5-4
Notes:
1. The recommended replacement intervals listed above are valid when the Equipment is
operating at an average ambient temperature of 25°C or less. When the average ambient
temperature exceeds 25°C, these replacement intervals may be shortened.
2. This Equipment uses a lithium battery. When disposing of the battery, follow all local
regulations.
3. In the event of repair, there may be a case of replacement with functionally compatible
device or component.
4. Environmental conditions for the corrosion of this Equipment fall into the definition of
JEITA IT-1004A Class A (temperature of 25°C and humidity of 50%).
5. If the repair of this Equipment is performed by a third party, the functionality of this
Equipment will not be guaranteed.
6. There are cases when zinc whiskers cause an adverse effect on the electrical device.
Ensure that tin electroplating should not be used on the Equipment or a device near the
Equipment.

Equipment for Information Systems” published by Japan Electronics and Information
Technology Industries Association (JEITA)
Location liable to zinc whisker formation: Environment where tin electroplating is
applied, e.g., floor tile, stringer, strut, and anti-seismic support bracket.
Effect: Electrical short circuit on a printed circuit board or connector terminal due to
contamination with electroconductive zinc whiskers. Such zinc whiskers may be
formed under the raised floor, then somehow released in the room air, and finally get
into the Equipment or a device with the ventilation air. Because the resulting
symptom looks different depending on the affected area, it is difficult to identify any
cause and likely to be processed as a transient error. For this reason, failures caused
by zinc whiskers tend to require longer time in finding out the root cause.
