3.7 Power Control over LAN
You can turn on the Equipment remotely over LAN (so-called “Wake-On-LAN™”
abbreviated to WOL). This section explains how to use such capability with the following
definition of the term “power ON”:
“Power ON” means an action to activate the Equipment in the standby status by
pressing the Power switch in the front panel or transmitting the Magic Packet™ frame
on the LAN interface.
To use WOL, first enable it according to the procedure in Subsection 3.7.1, “How to
enable WOL” and then perform the procedure in Subsection 3.7.2, “How to perform power
ON over LAN”. For details of the Magic Packet™ frame, see Subsection 3.7.3, “Magic
Packet™ frame format”. (Even if you don’t enable WOL, you might be able to use WOL.
But when you want to use WOL certainly, you must follow the procedure in 3.7.1, “How
to enable WOL”.)
3.7.1 How to enable WOL
By following the procedure below, you can set up WOL. (The display image assumes
Windows® XP but it is similar under Windows® 7.)
1. Do steps 1 through 4 in Subsection 3.10.3, “How to set up link speed and duplex
mode”.
2. Click Power Management tab and check Wake On Magic Packet from power off state
checkbox in Wake on LAN section.
3. Click
