3.10 Notes on LAN Interfaces
3.10.1 Requirements for twisted pair Ethernet cable
The twisted pair Ethernet cable for connection to the network must comply with the
following specifications. No operation with any other cable type, e.g., category 5 or STP
(shielded twisted pair), will be guaranteed.
LAN cable specifications: Category 5e or 6 of UTP (unshielded twisted pair)
3.10.2 Autonegotiation for link speed and duplex mode
Each LAN interface is equipped with the autonegotiation function that automatically
detects and adapts to the link speed and duplex mode of the connected hub. Have this
autonegotiation function enabled in normal use. (Autonegotiation is required for use with
the WOL function. If “Auto-negotiate 1000Mbps” is selected for the link speed and
duplex mode, the WOL function becomes unusable.)
Certain combinations with connected hubs may cause the autonegotiation function to fail
and adversely affect communications with other devices. When the autonegotiation
function does not operate properly, set up the LAN interface as shown below.
