quickly. When you begin to type a word, the word prediction feature scans the
dictionary for words and phrases that begin with the letters you have typed.
These items will be displayed in the word prediction boxes next to the Message
Window. Once the item you want is displayed, you can stop typing and use the
Word1-5
keys on your keyboard to select the appropriate word.
Context prediction
(Alt + P) enhances word prediction by offering word
suggestions that fit into the grammatical context of your text. The software
suggests words that will work with the parts of speech you have already used in
your sentence. The
Word Prediction
check box must be selected for this feature
to be available.
Flexible abbreviation
(Alt + F) searches the dictionary for words or phrases which
contain the string of letters you have typed. For this feature, the specific series
of letters may be found anywhere within the word or phrase. The
Word
Prediction
check box must be selected for this feature to be available.
The
Abbreviation Expansion
feature (Alt + E) allows you to create abbreviations
for longer words or phrases, reducing the number of letters you must type.
Once an abbreviation has been recorded in the DynaWrite software, typing that
abbreviation into the Message Window and then selecting the space bar will
cause the DynaWrite to automatically expand the abbreviation into the full word
or phrase it represents. Once the abbreviation expansion feature has been
activated, you may go to the
Abbreviation Expansions
menu to create and edit
your own abbreviations.
In the
Prediction settings
group box, you may further customize the word
prediction feature by setting it to suggest words after a specific number of letters
are typed. The
Predict After _ Letters
(Alt + R) combo box allows you to choose
whether your device predicts after one, two, or three letters. Use the up and
down arrows on your keyboard to highlight the appropriate choice. You can
also use the radio buttons at the bottom center of the page to choose the number
of predicted words that are shown on your screen. DynaWrite can predict one
(Alt + 1), two (Alt + 2), three (Alt + 3), four (Alt + 4), or five (Alt + 5) words at a
time.
