Gently spread the sides of the drive bracket and slide the hard drive into the bracket, aligning the drive with the bracket pins, until the drive clicks into
place.
5.
Carefully slide the hard drive into the drive bay until it clicks into place.
6.
Connect the power and data cables to the drive.
7.
Ensure that the data cable is securely connected to the connector on the system board.
8.
Check all connectors to be certain that they are properly cabled and firmly seated.
9.
Replace the computer cover (see
Replacing the Computer Cover
).
10.
Insert bootable media and enter system setup (see
Entering System Setup
), and update the SATA port option under the Drives option list.
11.
Exit system setup, and reboot the computer.
12.
Partition and logically format your drive.

13.
Test the hard drive by running the Dell Diagnostics (see
Dell Diagnostics
).

CAUTION:
Always connect the data cable to the SATA0 connector on the system board, or to the SATA1 connector if you already have a hard
drive connected to the SATA0 connector and you are installing a second hard drive.
