Disconnect the power and data cables from the back of the floppy drive.

If you are not replacing the floppy drive or media card reader at this time, install the floppy drive inserts (see
Replacing Drive Inserts
). Contact Dell if you
need a drive bay insert.
Installing a Floppy Drive
1.
If you are installing a new floppy drive
a.
Remove the drive inserts (see
Removing Drive Inserts
).
b.
Pull to remove the floppy drive insert that should be installed in the drive bay.
c.
Remove the four shoulder screws from the drive panel insert.
2.
If you are replacing an existing floppy drive:
Remove the four shoulder screws from the existing drive or media card reader.
3.
Insert the four shoulder screws into the sides of the new floppy drive and tighten them.
