CAE SimuFlite
The ENG ANTI-ICE L/R annuncia-
tors monitor the position of the stator
valve and inlet lip valve. A position
switch illuminates the ENG ANTI-
ICE L/R annunciator if the stator
valves remain closed. A tempera-
ture sensor monitors the inlet lip
valve position by extinguishing the
ENG ANTI-ICE L/R annunciator
when the temperature of the engine
inlet lip exceeds 220°F.
Inboard Wing Leading
Edge Anti-Ice
When the ENGINE ANTI-ICE
switch is in ON, the five heating ele-
ments in the wing receive DC power
supplied by the respective Main bus
through a control relay, an overheat
relay, current sensors, and a CB.
The electric heating elements (each
vary in amperage rating) total 150
amps per wing. When turned on,
each ammeter should show an
increase of 100 to 125 amps in elec-
trical load per wing. Temperature
sensors provide inputs to a controller
that cycles the system on and off
automatically to maintain proper
surface temperature, which is 130 to
172 ±6°F. When the controller
senses 172 ±6°F, it signals the con-
trol relay to open; this interrupts
power to the heating elements. The
relay closes when the temperature of
the wing cools to 130 ±6°F to return
power to the heating elements. The
ammeters indicate this action.
ENG ICE FAIL/ENG ANTI-ICE
Annunciator
When the ANTI-ICE switch is in
ON, a low temperature thermo-
switch illuminates the ENG ANTI-
ICE L/R annunciators. Once the
wing temperature reaches 60°F, the
thermoswitch opens to extinguish
the annunciator. During the heating
cycle, a current sensor for each heat-
ing element monitors current flow. A
reduction in current flow to one or
more of the heating elements illumi-
nates the ENG ANTI-ICE L/R
annunciator. When the control relay
is de-energized, a holding circuit
maintains the warning relay ener-
gized to prevent the warning light
from cycling on and off.
A high temperature thermoswitch
near the upper heater section pro-
vides wing overheat protection. If
the thermoswitch senses a tempera-
ture of 165°F, the overheat relay
opens and interrupts power to the
heating elements. The sensor closes
the relay when it senses 155°F.
Bravo Engine Anti-Ice
Limitations
Required for taxi and takeoff when
operating in visible moisture with
OAT 10°C or lower.
For sustained ground operations,
operate for a minimum of one out
of every four minutes with engine
ANTI-ICE FAIL lights extin-
guished and N

at 65% or higher.
Required in flight when operating
in visible moisture when OAT
10°C or lower.
