ciates when its respective
comparison monitor activates; ILS
annunciates if both monitors trip.
Other comparison monitors are:

Indicated Airspeed (IAS) - in the
top left corner of the airspeed dis-
play

Altitude (ALT) - in the top right
corner of the altitude display
n
Radio Altitude (RA) - above the
pitch/roll comparison monitor dis-
play area
n
Heading (HDG) - below the glide
slope/localizer comparison moni-
tor display area.
Selected pilot and copilot input data
are compared in the symbol genera-
tors.
Table 5B-G
lists the compared
signals and the displayed cautionary
symbols. When the compared pitch
and roll attitude or glideslope and
localizer signals are out-of-toler-
ance, a combined level (ATT or ILS)
appears. Extended turns at low bank
angles (<5°) may result in pitch and/
or roll miscompare.
EHSI Display
The EHSI display receives inputs
from the attitude and heading refer-
ence system and displays data in
three categories: full compass, par-
tial compass, and arc (WX) mode.
Full compass displays and annuncia-
tions are always present on the EHSI
or when certain navigation equip-
ment is operational. Partial compass
displays are present when selected
on the display controller or the flight
director mode selector. The mode
and bearing pointers available
depend upon optional equipment
installed and may not be present in
all installations. Pressing the HSI
button on the display controller tog-
gles the display between full and
partial compass modes.
During operation in the arc mode,
additional presentations are available
which enhance navigation and safety
of flight. These additional presenta-
tions include the heading bug off scale
arrow and various weather displays
and annunciations: range rings
(annunciations), radar returns, warning
annunciations, radar mode annuncia-
tions, and the antenna tilt annunciator.
EHSI Caution/Failure
Annunciations
The EHSI displays the following cau-
tion or failure annunciations:
n
DME Hold - An amber H appears
to the left of the DME readout when
DME is selected to HOLD.
n
FMS Alert Messages - Waypoint
(WPT), GPS integrity, dead reckon-
ing (DR), or degrade (DGR) mes-
sages appear in amber at the upper
left center of the EHSI display to
indicate, respectively, that a way-
point is being passed, FMS is in
dead reckoning, or the FMS has
become degraded for any of various
reasons. An amber MSG in the
upper right center indicates that the
FMS has a message on the CDU.

Digital Display Cautions - Dashes
replace failed digital readouts for
DME, GSPD, TTG, or ET.
n
Target Alerts - An amber TGT on
the left of the EHSI display indi-
cates a weather radar target alert and
that a level three weather return has
been detected. A green TGT indi-
cates that target mode has been
enabled on the weather radar.
