Quickly Typing Accented or Special Characters
The fastest way to type accented or special characters on your BlackBerry is to press
and hold the underlying letter key, such as a, and then roll the trackpad until you see
the character you need. Using this trick you can even quickly type special characters
such as a trademark or copyright symbol. Remember, you can also use the Sym key for
basic symbols (see Figure 9).
• To type an accented letter or special
character, press and hold a letter key
and roll the trackpad.
• Example: Press and hold the letter A
to scroll through these accented
characters: À Á Â Ã Ä Å Æ (both upper
and lower case).
• Letters this trick works on are: E, R, T,
Y, U, I, O, P, A, S, D, K, C, V, B, N, M
• Some other common characters:
– V key for ¿, T key for ™, C key for ©, R key

®

Working with the Wireless Network
Since most of the functions on your Bold work only when you are connected to the
Internet (email, Web, App World, Facebook, and so forth), you need to know when
you’re connected. Understanding how to read the status bar can save you time and
frustration. You will also want to know how to quickly turn off your wireless radio or
other radios (e.g. Bluetooth, Wi-Fi) when you get on an airplane.

you can save time and keep you connected.
