What If I Receive a Phone Call When in Standby Mode?
Don’t worry; your BlackBerry will still ring or vibrate to notify you of an incoming call
when it’s in standby mode.
What’s the difference between the two options? If you have password security
enabled (page 516), pressing the Lock key will force you to enter your password to
unlock it. When you use the Mute key to enter and then exit standby mode, you won’t
have to enter your password (unless the security timeout has elapsed). We have also
read on some of the blogs that standby mode is supposed to save your battery more
than the Keyboard Lock mode.
Changing Your Convenience Keys
Figure 8-6 points to two keys on the middle of the sides of your BlackBerry. These are
actually programmable keys called convenience keys because each one can be set to
conveniently open any app on your BlackBerry, even new third-party apps you add
yourself.
