7 - MAINTENANCE

Every 2 years

Engine coolant drain and flush

WARNING

Burn hazard!
Hot coolant can spray and scald if you remove the radiator or deaeration tank cap while the system
is hot. To remove the cap: allow the system to cool, turn the cap to the first notch, and wait for all
pressure to release. Remove the cap only after all pressure has released.
Failure to comply could result in death or serious injury.

1. After the engine and the coolant has cooled down,

loosen the radiator top tank cap

(1)

to the first notch.

2. Open the drain valve

(2)

at the bottom of the radiator

and collect the coolant in a container. Close the drain
after all the coolant has been removed.

3. Remove the radiator top tank cap and fill the radiator

top tank with coolant.

4. Allow the coolant to fill completely the system and then

wait 2 to 3 minutes.

5. Refill the radiator top tank again.

6. Leave the radiator top tank cap off and run the engine

at idle for several minutes.

7. Top off the coolant level in the radiator top tank.

8. Run the engine at high idle until the thermostats open.

9. Shut off the engine and top off the coolant level in the

radiator top tank.

10. Restart and run the engine up to operating tempera-

ture.

11. Shut off the engine and allow the engine to cool.
