9.8 FM Unit
9.8.1 Vacuum Pump
T he scroll-type dry vacuum pump is dry vacuum pump m odel that discharges v ia
the com bined m ovem en ts o f the rotor and the sw irling-type stator. W ith the tw o
identically-shaped scrolls slightly off-center and the w alls in line-contact, the two
scrolls perform the oscillatin g and braying m ovem ents relatively for each other. The
gas trapped in the1 crescent-shaped space is com pressed toward the central part and
em itted from the central h ole. Thanks to "this structure, h igh-sp eed exhaust and clean
high-pow er vacuum can b e carried out.
Intake o f pow ders or product materials m ay result in damage to the pump.

<Maintenance procedure>
For m aintenance, proper m ethods and terms should be decided according to the
specifications and w orking condition o f the m achine and d evices.
M aintenance should b e perform ed b y referring to the follow in g item s.
* Instruction m anual for the scroll-type dry vacuum pump
- C heck for abnormal sounds or vibration.
I f foreign substances enter the pump and the rotor, etc. seizes up, it w ill be
necessary to overhaul the pump.
* W ith regard to the dry-pump, periodical inspection is to be carried out as specified
in the instruction m anuals, on ce every 3 000 hours o f operation tim e in order to
prevent dam age or m alfunction o f dry- pum p function.
