CRANKING SYSTEM

Ground Test

Check commutator and armature core. If there is continuity, ar-
mature is grounded and must be replaced.

Open Circuit Test

Check for continuity between segments. If there is no continuity
at any test point, there is an open circuit and armature must be
replaced.

5. FIELD COIL

Check for continuity between brushes (1) and between con-
nector (2) and brush (1). Replace field coil if there is continuity.

Check for continuity between connector (2) and yoke (1). Re-
place field coil if there is continuity.
