Replacing the Node System Board

9. Remove the network daughter card. (see Replacing the Network Daughter Card on page 113 ).
Installing a Replacement System Board
To install the replacement system board in the DXi6900-S Node:
1. Transfer the following components to the new system board:
a. Heatsinks and processors (see Replacing the Processor and Heatsink on page 117 ).
b. Memory modules (see Replacing a Node Memory Module on page 84 ).
c. Network daughter card. (see Replacing the Network Daughter Card on page 113 ).
2. Hold the touch points and lower the system board into the chassis (see Figure 89 on the previous page ).
Caution: Do not lift the system board assembly by grasping a memory module, processor, or other
components.
Caution: Take care not to damage the system identification button while placing the system board
into the chassis.
3. Push the system board toward the back of the chassis until the board clicks into place.
4. Replace the following components:
a. Cable retention bracket (see Removing and Installing the Cable Retention Bracket on page 178 ).
b. PCIe card holder (see Removing and Installing the PCIe Card Holder on page 177 ).
c. Integrated storage controller card (see Replacing the Integrated Storage Controller on page 106 ).
d. Expansion card risers (see Replacing an Expansion Card in Riser 1 on page 97 and Replacing an
Expansion Card in Riser 2 or 3 ).
e. Cooling fan assembly (see Removing and Installing the Cooling Fan Assembly on page 175 ).
f. Power supplies (see Replacing a Node Power Supply on page 78 ).
5. Reconnect all cables to the system board.
Note: Ensure that the cables inside the system are routed along the chassis wall and secured using
the cable securing bracket.
6. Close the Node cover (see Opening and Closing the Node on page 63 ).
7. Verify that the DXi6900-S BIOS settings are set correctly:
Note: The BIOS is automatically updated to the correct Quantum version when the system boots
up. There is no need to manually update the BIOS, but you must verify that the BIOS settings are
set correctly.
a. Turn on the system (see Turning On the DXi6900-S on page 20 ).
b. As the system boots, press F2 to display the System Setup Main Menu .
c. Follow the steps described in Required DXi6900-S BIOS Settings on page 184 to verify that all
BIOS settings are set to the Quantum required value, and make any changes as needed.
