Identifying a Failed Cooling Fan in the Node

The DXi6900-S Node contains six cooling fans that provide cooling for the processors, expansion cards,
and memory modules.

To identify the failed cooling fan:

1. Access the remote management console (see

Accessing Remote Management on page 21

2. Navigate to the

Status > Hardware > Details > System Board

page.

3. Note the number (1–6) of the cooling fan that has a

Failed

status (see

Figure 53 below

Removing a Failed Cooling Fan from the Node

To remove the failed cooling fan from the DXi6900-S Node:

1. Shut down the system (see

Turning Off the DXi6900-S on page 21

2. Remove the Node cover (see

Opening and Closing the Node on page 63

3. Identify the failed fan using the numbers on the cooling fan assembly.
