Identifying a Failed Integrated Storage Controller Battery
The integrated storage controller (Dell PERC H730) includes a battery that protects the RAID controller
during power failures. The battery allows the RAID controller to store any cached data until power can be
restored.
To identify a failed integrated storage controller battery:
1. Access the remote management console (see Accessing Remote Management on page 21 ).
2. Navigate to the Status > Hardware > Details > Storage Arrays page.
3. Under Storage Arrays , click a0 , and then click Batteries and note the PERC H730 battery status
below (see Figure 74 below ).

Removing a Failed Integrated Storage Controller Battery
To remove the integrated storage controller battery from the DXi6900-S Node:
1. Shut down the system (see Turning Off the DXi6900-S on page 21 ).
2. Remove the Node cover (see Opening and Closing the Node on page 63 ).
3. Remove the integrated storage controller (see Replacing the Integrated Storage Controller on
page 106 ).
4. Unplug the battery cable and remove the battery from the integrated storage controller (see Figure 75
on the next page ).
