A drive that posts an
Impending Drive Failure
error (reported by
Self-Monitoring, Analysis, Reporting
Technology,
or
SMART
) will NOT turn on the
Drive Service Action
LED until the failing threshold is
crossed.

Identifying an Impending Drive Failure - Command Line
To view the drive status via the Command Line Interface:
1. Identify the
Tray ID
and the
Sled ID
of the hard drive sled you want to remove. These IDs are required
for the CLI command.
2. Connect to the system node (see
Connecting to the DXi6900-S Node on page 27
).
The command prompt displays.
3. Enter the following CLI command at the command prompt:
$ SMcli -n QarrayX -c “show allDrives summary;”
Example
:
Search for impending drive failures on Qarray1:
$ SMcli -n Qarray1 -c “show allDrives summary;”
The results will indicate any drives with an
“Impending Failure (reported by drive)”
status.
Once the drive that needs attention is located, place the drive into a failed status (see
Fault (NCF) or Optimal Hard Drive on page 149
).
