Power Linkage with NAS Blade 

NOTE:

 NAS Blade is shipped only in Japan. 

Powering on/off of desired NAS blade can be interlocked with the CPU blade. Using the Blade 
Enclosure Inter Connect, power linkage feature can be used between the several Blade Enclosures. 

 

Built-in UPS Unit Management 

The EM card monitors the status of built-in UPS unit. 

If the power supply from the power supply unit is interrupted, the EM card issues shutdown 
command to the CPU blades. When the power supply from the power supply unit is recovered, the 
CPU blade can be automatically booted. 

NOTES:

   

 

Make sure that the UPS unit can supply enough power for the 
overall system.   
The EM card calculates the maximum power which the UPS unit 
can supply to the system, and reflect it to the upper limit of the 
maximum power consumption. If the capacity of your UPS unit is 
lower than the maximum power consumption, some CPU blades 
may not be powered on. 

 

To use the UPS unit, a power supply unit that supports UPS unit 
(N8405-054, or N8405-055 or later excluding N8405-064S01) is 
required. 

 

To use the UPS unit, a Blade Enclosure that supports UPS unit 
(N8405-016B or later) is required. 

 

If power supply from the power supply unit is interrupted while all 
the CPU blades are powered off, the UPS unit will not discharge for 
system backup. 

 

The Blade Enclosure can contain up to two UPS units. The total 
power-supply capacity will increase if equipped with two UPS units. 
The backup time increases according to the number of UPS units 
installed. 

 

To shutdown the CPU blade automatically, your OS must be able to 
shutdown with the one-push of the Power button. 

 

If the CPU blade is unable to be shutdown with the Power button, 
this feature will not shut down the system. See the topic "Unable to 
shutdown the OS by UPS Management feature or Power Linkage 
with NAS Blade feature" in the Troubleshooting Chapter. 

When the built-in UPS unit management feature is used, the EM card stops the redundant power 
supply unit, and takes the UPS unit for redundant power supply. This can reduce the system power 
consumption.
